Continuing education: set up your account

 

Please consult the letter you received from your continuing education program, entitled “Your UNIGE account”. It contains the UNIGE login ID you will need to complete the steps below. 
 

Before you begin your program: 

 

1.    Create your UNIGE password 

 

  • To create your password, go to mdp.unige.ch and click on “set or reset the password”.  Enter your user ID and the personal email address on the letter entitled “Your UNIGE account”, mentioned above. 

  • This password will allow you to access most digital services available to you (WiFi, the UNIGE mobile application, etc.)It is personal and non-transferable. 
     

2.    Access the UNIGE network from anywhere 

 

  • To access the UNIGE network when you work or study outside of the University (for example by means of VPN and VDI), you will need a one-time security code (ISIs+ strong authentication) in addition to your UNIGE login ID and password. 

  • You can use the UNIGE Mobile app to get this code: 

2.1. Follow the steps provided on the following webpage (in French): How to install and configure the UNIGE Mobile app. 

Make sure to select “Recevoir un SMS” (Receive a text message) and not “Scanner un QR code” (Scan a QR code).

2.2. If you encounter a problem (e.g. if you don’t receive the text message)

a) Contact the CAD, preferably by phone or by submitting a request Make sure to have a scan of a form of identification ready, as you will be asked for it.  

b) Log in to my-account.unige.ch with your UNIGE login ID and the security code provided by the CAD.  

c) Once again, follow the steps provided on the webpage How to install and configure the UNIGE Mobile app, but this time select “Scanner un QR code” (Scan a QR code). 

 

3.    Link your UNIGE account and your SWITCH edu-ID account 

 

 3.1. Follow the steps provided on the following webpage: Create your SWITCH edu-ID account and link it to your UNIGE account. 

 3.2. Log in to my-account.unige with your UNIGE login ID and the strong authentication code (provided in your UNIGE Mobile app) and click on “My SWITCH edu-ID account”. 

 3.3. Click on “Link my accounts”** and follow the instructions 

** If your UNIGE and SWITCH accounts are already linked, it will read “Status: UNIGE account linked”. 
 

 

Your SWITCH edu-ID account is necessary to access certain digital services offered by UNIGE, such as Moodle and swisscovery.
