Unable to connect to my e-mail or Wi-Fi after having changed my ISIs password
Issue
After changing your ISIs password, your mobile telephone and computers are not automatically updated and are no longer able to connect to certain services such as email and Wi-Fi. They will try to connect using the old password, so you need to manually synchronize your new password.
Solution
Wi-Fi
- Using MacOs 10.7 and higher the new password is requested at the first Wi-Fi connection.
- Using MacOs lower than 10.7: the connection to UNIGE is not made, and no request is made for a new password; you have to manually change the password (how to do this)
- Using Windows: the password will be requested if the connection attempt fails. Please be aware that there can sometimes be two network managers for Wi-Fi at the same time. (e.g., Microsoft and HP). In that case, deactivate the non-Microsoft network manager.
- Using iOS6 and higher: the new password is requested at the first Wi-Fi connection.
- Using Android 4 and higher: you need to delete the ‘unige’ setting (if it has been saved) and set up the connection again as described in these instructions.
- UNIGE Outlook web app http://outlook.unige.ch : no need to do anything, as passwords are synchronized automatically
- MS Outlook client for Windows: no need to do anything other than entering your password when requested, as passwords are synchronized automatically
- MS Outlook client for MacOs: enter your password when requested.
Alternatively, you can delete your current account:
Menu Outlook>Preferences, select the "Unige" account or "firstname.lastname@unige.ch", the click on the "minus sign",
then reconfigure it:
Menu Outlook>Preferences, click on the "plus sign", Exchange, UNIGE email and credentials - Apple Mail client for MacOs: enter your password when requested.
Alternatively, you can delete your current account:
Menu Mail>Preferences, select the "Exchange" account or "firstname.lastname@unige.ch", the click on the "minus sign",
then reconfigure it:
(Mail>Accounts>Exchange>email address + password) - Apple Mail client for iOs: to change your UNIGE password using iOS (iPad / iPhone)
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar, > UNIGE Account > Account "xxx.xxx@unige.ch" > Password - Client for Android: after a failed connection attempt, you will be asked to update your settings: Change only your password.
